I never knew the taste of blood till now... (Sunday Evening) [
6/4/06 - 11:22 pm
]
[ mood | cold ]
[ music | Ways And Means / Wow - Snow Patrol ]

Justin swung by I Ching's for a splurge on some Chinese food. Since he wasn't working at the Planet any more, and still didn't have a working kitchen, his options were limited. And he'd be damned if he was eating Spaghettios again. So I Ching's it was. He stood in line behind a loud woman with big hair, drawn-on eyebrows, and blue eyeshadow, and he caught a glimpse of that look in her eye when she turned... that look he got far too often from older women. The, 'You're so cute, I just want to take you home and feed you Cheerios' vibe. And it was the last thing he needed right now.
Like a bullet in the head... )

((Preplayed to give Bobby and Justin a goodbye, open to OOC of course. I'll be in my room with the vodka and the chocolate))

Mother's Day. Hold the chocolates. (Sunday early evening) [

[ mood | angry ]
[ music | Wow - Snow Patrol ]

Bobby gets in from work at JamPony that Sunday just in time to hear the phone ringing. Dumping his crumpler on the floor of the loungeroom he swoops for the receiver. "Hey..." His face falls at the voice on the other end of the line. Last person he was expecting to hear from. Ever. His eyes track across to the room to the calendar. Well. It was the day for it.

"Hi Mom."

Bobby doesn't know what to say, let alone do. So he just listens. He has no idea how she got this number, but there's a sneaking suspicion forming this may have been one of the Professor's chess moves. Crap knows what he thought -this- would achieve though.

Half an hour of beating around the bush and babbled crap later he loses his patience. All this time not a peep, nothing from them after Alkali, you know, when he could have done with his parent's support. But now.

Now, on Mother's Day of all days and he knew his Mom was good at guilt, but really. This was a master stroke even for her. He doesn't need this. He -never- needed this. But really. His side is still sore, the stitches pulling every time he moves. He misses Justin, he's worried about Cassie and..

Screw it.

"Mom? I swear to God. If you ask me to 'try not being a mutant' one more time? I'm hanging the goddamn phone up, and I'm not going to bother ringing you back."

Silence.

"Either you love me as I am, mutant, gay, whatever...or you don't..."

Bobby listened, his face growing tense. "Since I moved here, I met people, friends. Even people I can call family and they don't give a damn what I am or what I can do. All they care about is me. How come perfect strangers can manage that, but my Mother can't? Huh?"

Squawking sounded from the earpiece. "Yeah well, maybe it's about time someone said something. I love you Mom, but this isn't cool and I'm sorry I'm the one who had to say it. I won't be expecting to hear from you for my birthday I guess. Bye."

Click.

He needs a walk.

Bobby and Justin - Communication (don't faint) [

[ music | Wish I May - Ani diFranco ]

Bobby puttered around the kitchen, humming along to the CD.

"...I've worn through the elbows
and the knees of my clothing
and I'm staring down the gravel
driveway of desire trying not to
wake up my sleeping self loathing..."

He looked up at that. Frickin' serendipity. Bobby shook himself and cast his eyes over the room. The apartment was clean. Between Bruce's sharp organisation of his life and Bobby's OCD-ish tendencies from a time when he couldn't risk leaving things out in case they were frozen solid? The apartment was -always- clean.

Course, that hadn't stopped him from going over it again. Twice.

'Kay so he was slightly nervous. Suggesting the talk? Had been the easy part. Doing was always harder. He ran through the list in his head

Justin, Brian, Ben and Michael. Bobby's past, Scott...jeez. Scott, that would lead onto guns and the raid. Alkali Lake. Awhell, Brandon...

The key in the door jingled slightly as the door opened, letting Bruce and Bobby in. Bobby making his way into the middle of the main space before he just wound to a stop.

He stared dumbly at the comic sitting on the table. Not so drunk now, just numb. And achey, he wrapped his arms around himself.

Ok..so. I was never deeply into QaF fandom. Then I went and bought the Season 1 boxset (the only one available in Australia). Lo' I was hooked.

I put off watching the final episode for as long as was humanly possible due to knowing the ending and knowing what I was like when it came to this sort of thing. I caved and watched it a while ago. And not suprisingly? Emma and Bobby were ever-so-slightly-miffed. They wouldn't let me write anything until I did something. So we sat down around a table with a bottle of tequila, some lemons and a salt shaker and came to an agreement.

Throw in my twisted mind, Tara's ability to be present at the opening of an envelope where-ever the Powers That Be need her and TaaDaa! Michael!Mun and Tara!Mun both were cool with the idea, so casting credits go to them for allowing me to play with their toys. The rest I can only blame on myself.

Bobby slipped into the apartment, locking the door behind him. "Bro, you home?"

He was messy from helping with Cassie's car. Grease in spots on his shirt and vest. Walking into the main room, he looked around. "Bruce?"

Reassurance - (Backdated to late Monday night, after dinner with the Boys) [

[ mood | mellow ]
[ music | Falling is like this - Ani diFranco ]

Bobby let himself into the apartment, Justin close on his heels. Dinner had been...intense. There'd been emotions aired and a few secrets ripped open. Bobby had asked Justin back to his place, not wanting to leave the woobie guy to his own devices so soon after so much emo.

Passing through loungeroom on his way into the kitchen, Bobby looked back over his shoulder. "J, you want something?"

((For [info]artisticblond and [info]emo_popsicle. Bruce? I have no idea if you're around, at home, off shagging women senseless or whatever. The boys are just in need of some talk/hug time, but Bobby's happy to confer with his Big Bro once Justin's dealt with.))

This is just a placeholder for the X-Mun's.

Those of us silly enough to see a mutie and adopt it? Here's a spot for us to figure out the different timelines, who knows what and who etc etc.

First day on the Job - Jam Pony Couriers - Della Rosa [
4/4/06 - 1:35 am
]
[ music | Run Baby Run - Garbage/Summer Moon - Africanism Allstars ]

Jam Pony takes up the bottom floor of an old building in Della Rosa. Under the stylized bike rider sign, sliding double doors open onto a concrete ramp busy with a constant flow of traffic. Bike couriers buzz through to pick up, and deliver packages. Those waiting for a job or avoiding actually having to do anything hang by the break table to the left of the ramp or around the lockers in the back, forming an air of frenzied chaos.

To one side, in a glass and wire cage sits Normal; the manager and sometimes ringmaster of this three ring circus. Thanks to and sometimes in spite of his best efforts, packages are sorted and dispersed to their new homes. With an efficiency closely approaching the herding of cats; Normal, from his little nest of paranoia enforces a layer of order and sanity over the crew.

Slackers and no-hoper's he calls them. But they're fast, they're discreete and they know the city. Made up of university students, alt. culture kids and the streetwise that have been running the streets of Fandomtropolis since they could ride, the Jam Pony couriers are an eclectic gang. But they'll get your package where it has to go, on time...give or take a few detours.

Getting to know you, getting to know all about you... )

He'd gotten the call from Bruce while he was waiting at the apartment, pacing the boarts and feeling useless. Bruce wanted Bobby as his man on the ground. That kind of trust was incredible, nerve-shattering but incredible. Bruce had briefed him quickly and indicated a car would be around momentarily.

Bobby had headed straight for the closet, pulling the black leather off of its hanger. He'd unearthed the suit last night, after their talk. Whatever was going down was dangerous. And stupid-looking or not, Bobby would take kevlar reinforced-leather over jeans and a t-shirt. The car sounded outside as he zipped up the jacket, moving quickly and efficiently.

He slid into the car, game face on and the slightest hint of chill moving through the interior. Grimly staring out at the city as he drove past, he wondered what the victims had endured so far. And how much it would take to get them back alive and well. Sis..and Justin...and those others... Worth it. Whatever it was.

Minutes passed like seconds. Soon enough, the car pulled up, down the street from the warehouse.

Breaking the Ice (Bruce and Bobby's Apartment - Tuesday Morning) [

[ music | The New Year - DCFC / How to be Dead - Snow Patrol ]

Bobby quietly unlocked the front door of the apartment, letting himself in. If Bruce had been home last night, he'd probably wonder where Bobby had been, but he wouldn't push. He was good like that. "Hey Bro?" Bobby called out. No response. Bruce was obviously at work.

He schlepped his way through to the bathroom, dropping off a pile of mail and junk on the way. He stripped quickly and showered, the hot water streaming across his skin reminding him of other things. Whispers and murmurs in the dark played through his mind as he towelled himself off. Going through his wardrobe he found a pair of clean jeans, and a NiN t-shirt that used to be John's. Feeling odd, but at the same time craving the comfort he pulled it on. Knotting the laces on his Docs, he noticed small flecks of blue paint remaining from his fight with Ben in the bathroom.
Follow me down... )
He was down the staircase and across the street in seconds. He needed to walk. Clear his head and try to get the balls to open the damn envelope.

((OOC: Purely to set the tone. This is what Bobby has going on before finding himself at the Planet. All fear his mighty powers of repression.))

After the Ball - The Taxi Ride Home [

The Taxi sped off from the parking lot of the Ringmore Suites. "Where ya going, Bub?" The driver called over the backseat, doing his very best not to look in the rear view mirror. Bobby managed to pull his head up long enough to gasp out the address. The driver got on with driving, and Bobby bent his head down again to Justin.

Yeah, so, I can't actually find a shiney device for Bobby to droplink with. Apparently Emo doesn't equal introspective. Who knew?

I'll work on it. But until then...

Bobby arrived in Fandom Metropolis. Where he met Tara and Shane. The two kind ladies helped him dust off and then took him to the Planet where Bobby got a clue! And a muffin! He was invited to Dinner, where he met the cutest kitten in the history of the world. And Joshua. After a short discussion on comparative genetics, they sat down to eat. Whereupon Tara promptly adopted Bobby. Meaning along with Shane's chucks and Tara's cuteness he inherited a hunkyhunky big brother, who offered him a place to live.

Heading out to explore this new town, Bobby met Justin, the hottie from the Planet on his first day. He invited Bobby to go to the Triangle with him.

After a legspreader or three, Bobby and Justin got NC-17ish. Sadly this ended in an offer of coffee rather than sweaty man sex with icecubes. 'Cos Bobby got a little freaked.

Happily, Bobby had people on hand to de-freak with. Bobby and Shane had a nice talk, where they decided Bobby wasn't a tool, or lame. But the fact Shane had dated Bobby's ex-girlfriend? Was just plain weird. A short while later he met Freya, a telepath. She confirmed that not only did Rogue get around? She was here in Metropolis. Bobby promptly froze a defenceless salt-shaker.

Later on he caught up with Tara at the Icecreamery while he was getting comfort food. She managed to settle him down regarding Justin, her natural Super-Mom abilities kicking in.

Speaking of all things Super. Bobby managed to have a run in with three thugs. Or more to the point he ran after three thugs that were chasing a woman. They had a run in themselves. With Mr. Bouncy! Metropolis' new superhero. Bobby called the cops and managed to get the victim of the attempted mugging home in one piece.

The world, or specifically Fandom 'Tropolis being what it is. No good deed goes unpunished, so when Bobby finally managed to pin Justin down not like that you pervy mutie botherers it was only to find out someone had already beat him to asking the hunky blonde to the V-Day Masquerade Ball.

After that little ray of sunshine, Bobby needed to go out. The Valentine's Day Leather Ball at the Triangle fit the bill. Once he got there he managed to run into his Mom who managed to break his brain with leather clad boobies, and convince him to go to the Ball with her and Shane. He also found Freya and her boytoy Pete, who while cute? Obviously couldn't dance if his life depended on it. Leaving them to their couple-ish bliss, Bobby hit the dancefloor.
